Covered in this course are the following elements & Learning Objectives
• Identify and control Dangers
• Identify and Control infection risks using appropriate protective devices
• Understand basic anatomy & physiology of chest, airway, respiratory and cardiovascular systems
• Follow the Basic Life Support flowchart – DRSABCD in a rescue scenario
• Recognise an unconscious breathing Casualty and manage by placing into recovery position
• Recognise an unconscious non-breathing casualty and manage by Performing 2 mins of CPR on Adult
manikin (placed on floor) & Infant manikin (placed on a hard surface for 2 minutes
• Perform CPR on an adult manikin on the floor in a multiple rescuer scenario
• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in a simulated CPR rescue scenario
• Communicate Incident Details to Emergency Services
• Understand Legal, Workplace & community considerations
• Follow State/territory/professional regulations &/or codes of practice
• Recognise and manage an allergic reaction
• Recognise Anaphylaxis and manage using an Anaphylaxis emergency response kit including the use of
an Epipen

• Airway Obstruction, Asthma
• Wounds & Bleeds management, Shock
• Cardiac conditions, Heart Attack, Stroke
• Poisons, Bites & Stings
• Fractures, Dislocation, Sprain and Strain
• Spinal Injury, Head injury, Chest injury
• Temperature related conditions, Burns
• Diabetes, Epilepsy, Fainting, Drowning
