12 week course commencing Monday 14th October 6pm – 7:30pm. Learn Italian in Beechworth.  From meeting people to ordering gelato, asking directions and tucking into that spaghetti bolognese. This course offers you the opportunity to learn Italian to travel, help communicate in your workplace or to use with family and friends. Completing this beginner course will give you a good base and confidence in the language. (Excludes 23 & 30 December 2019)

Do you speak some basic Italian? Maybe you have taken part in the Beechworth Italian for Beginners classes and would like to continue practicing? Well, this fun hour will give you the opportunity to continue practicing, push your learning a bit further and enjoy a coffee with fellow Italian learners. The Conversazione is open to all Italian learners, you don’t have to have attended classes at Quercus Beechworth, but if in doubt give the organiser a call.. Venue changes from session to session depending on where the mood takes us!

Saturday 2nd November 6pm – 9pm Come along a journey through Asia, and enjoy a mix of dishes heady with flavour. This hands-on class will be enjoyed as dinner after the class. All recipes will be supplied so you can recreate delicious Asian food at home for family and friends. BYO drinks. Menu: Vietnamese rice paper rolls with dipping sauce, Agedashi tofu, Sugar cane prawns, Dan Dan noodles with pork and preserved vegetables, Chicken wings with honey and soy sauce, Mixed vegetables and Bananas in coconut milk.

This workshop run by Plant based Health Advocate, Anni Turnbull, she shows you how to change to a more plant based diet with simple delicious recipes, shopping tips and support, so that you can improve your diet for health and longevity.”

Tuesday 12th Novemeber 5:30pm – 9:30pm VCGLR Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Undertaking this approved VCGLR Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) program gives participants the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to a safe, enjoyable environment in a licensed premises.Face-to-face RSA training is mandatory for licensees and staff selling, offering or serving liquor for general, on-premises, late night and packaged liquor licences.  What you need to know. Licensees and staff are subject to mandatory RSA requirements and have one month from the date they first sell, offer for sale or serve liquor on the licensed premises to complete an RSA program. The RSA program covers a range of topics including: problems associated with excessive consumption alcohol and the law the question of who is responsible for RSA facts about alcohol improving the atmosphere of your premises handling difficult customers.

Quercus Beechworth believes sharing a meal helps bring people in our community together. Meals are prepared and served in the spirit of co-operation by community volunteers with people coming together to share a meal and engage in conversation. The Community Sharing Feast is a way for residents, both young and old or new to the area to meet up with people they know or make new friends. Take the night off from cooking to enjoy a free and nutritious meal open to all the community. We use produce from the community food garden and donated food from the Albury/Wodonga Regional FoodShare for the feast. Community Sharing Feast is an alcohol free event.  Bookings are essential so make sure you book early to avoid missing out. Albury-bred, Melbourne-based, singer/songwriter, Georgie Currie brings her debut EP ‘Flowers for Your Worst Days’ to the Burke Museum. Georgie is familiar to audiences as the lead singer of ten-piece outfit, The Northern Folk. Having recently begun her solo career, Georgie’s songs blend the broken, intimate fears of youth with a vocal intensity beyond her years. Lyrically and harmonically mature, she paints portraits remarkable as much for their emotional power as their vulnerability. Amongst the intimate setting of the Burke Museum at Beechworth, this is an event not to be missed. Featuring bar by Billson’s 1865.

A funky fundraiser to raise money for the 2020 Beechworth to Bridge Walk from Beechworth to Bright for suicide prevention. Money raised will also go towards the Burrombuttock Hayrunners and Survivors of Suicide and Friends. This is an awesome opportunity to throw on your flares and dance the night away knowing that you are raising money for such important causes.

Wednesday 27th November 9am – 4:30pm SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety This Nationally Accredited course is appropriate for all food handlers within the hospitality and retail industries, and can be any person who either directly or indirectly handles food such as kitchen staff, bar and food and beverage attendants, customer service attendants and front of house personnel. It is also appropriate for anyone handling food at a public venue.  It provides food handlers with the skills and knowledge required to keep food safe in the workplace and includes hands on food preparation in a simulated commercial kitchen environment. What you need to know This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses. It requires the ability to follow predetermined organisational procedures and to identify and control food hazards. This unit is part of SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality and a statement of attainment will be issued by The Centre. Fee includes course materials.

Saturday 30th November 10am – 1pm Herbs, flowers, leaves and even seeds can be turned into beautiful, thoughtful gifts to give year round not only at Christmas. In this workshop you’ll be shown skills to turn what is in your garden into gifts which your family and friends will love not only because they were hand made but because some will taste delicious.  This workshop was run last year and some of the comments made by participants were….. “Loved being able to ask questions and share ideas”…”Excellent information, friendly fun environment”…..”Loved listening to Sue’s abundance of knowledge”   The numbers will be limited so book early.  You will need to bring 3-4 small jars to take home some tasty gifts.

Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will be issued the Statement of Attainment HLTAID003-PFA This is an 8 hr workshop with 5 hrs in house and up to 3 hrs online pre-course. The pre-course MUST be completed, signed and printed before attending the in-house course.
