Friday 7th Feb 6pm-8pm Quercus Beechworth believes sharing a meal helps bring people in our community together. Meals are prepared and served in the spirit of co-operation by community volunteers with people coming together to share a meal and engage in conversation. The Community Sharing Feast is a way for residents, both young and old or new to the area to meet up with people they know or make new friends. Take the night off from cooking to enjoy a free and nutritious meal open to all the community. We use produce from the community food garden and donated food from the Albury/Wodonga Regional FoodShare for the feast. Community Sharing Feast is an alcohol free event. Bookings are essential so make sure you book early to avoid missing out. A magical music concert under the stars on the evening of Saturday March 14th held under the majestic ghosts gums on the shaded fairways of Beechworth Golf Course at Baarmutha Park. Opera in the Alps is an annual event that this year features solo guest artists, including vibrant star mezzo-soprano Silvia Colloca, dashing baritone Sam Dundas, and international didgeridoo player William Barton. They will be joined on stage by aspiring young singers from Opera Scholars Australia and the full Symphony Australis orchestra, who together will be presenting a packed-program of favourite opera and musical highlights under the stars. Stunning opera singer Silvia Colloca, well known to many foodies from her SBS “Made in Italy” and “Cook Like An Italian” food shows, will be adding her gourmet touches to the special Opera Feast that can be enjoyed before the start of Opera in the Alps, when she is set to wow fans with several soaring arias. As part of a statewide campaign to attract visitors, particularly Melburnians, back to Victoria’s country regions, Opera in the Alps will this year play a vital role in helping the High Country and its tourism-dependent businesses recover after the devastating impact of the recent bushfires. The region is ready for business with open doors and full larders.

This film, the first colour film about Ned Kelly, was a new interpretation of a man who was previously depicted as hard-edged, and is a strong reflection of the time it was made.
