We need help with making reusable cloth masks and ear savers. If you’d like to join us in sewing, cutting, crocheting or would just like to be a part of the production line, we’d love your help. This will help protect the vulnerable in our community, and make it more sustainable at the same time!
We have the materials, and a large hall to work together. These masks will be given to those in need and will also be available to purchase at Quercus bookshop and Our Community Op shop. All money raised will go towards classes and activities at Quercus for the community.
If you have basic sewing knowledge and a sewing machine, or a sharp pair of scissors and can cut a basic pattern, or you can crochet, we’d love to see you at our sewing bee. If you can’t do any of the above but want to be there, come along and we’ll find a spot for you in the production line.
Quercus will supply material, elastic, wool and buttons.
What you will need to bring,
- sewing machine
- pins, scissors, thread
- 4.5 to 5.5 crochet hook
- a cushion to put on your chair for added comfort
Please book as we can only have a limited number of people in the hall at one time, to keep in line with government regulations.
If you’d like to make masks or ear savers at home, please let us know and we’ll organise a sewing or crochet pack you can take home.
Donated materials will also be appreciated. (Material needs to be 100% cotton.)
