Perhaps the most important thing we can give each other is our attention.’ Dr Rachel Remen To listen effectively you need to use more than just your ears. Come and learn how you can develop your listening so you can be more attentive to family and friends.

Intro to Drama, Thursday 26th September 10am – 12pm Wendy will grow your child’s skills and confidence with the fantastic Drama workshop this September school holidays. Classes will be inclusive with drama games that are confidence and skill building, direct instruction of specific performance skills, improvisation and script work. The kids will have fun and you’ll see their imagination bear fruit. There are two workshops available, which your child or children can attend either or both. Ages 7+ If there is enough interest we will work towards having term classes with performance and possibly competition.

School holiday workshop Friday 27th September 10am – 1pm Entertain the kids these holidays with a 3 hour fun introduction to print making, where they will print leaves, feathers and other textures. They will come away with several prints plus one hand printed calico bag. Bring a snack and smock/apron. Strictly for ages 7+

1 PM – Join Clare and Hillsborough residents on a garden tour of the village. Clare will answer your questions regarding plants, pruning, etc. and how she plans her programme around the variable seasons and weather conditions. 2 PM – Meet up with Robert (resident) who will show you his collection of Dioscoria (Elelphant type) plants. Robert has one of the largest and oldest collections in Australia. A garage sale of collectables will also be happening , along with Devonshire Tea and a Sausage Sizzle from 12.30 PM at a minimal cost. Come and join the residents and management for a relaxed afternoon. Natalie from UPA will also be available to answer and of your questions in regard to Retirement Village living. For the 2019 Victorian Seniors Festival join Burke Museum staff for this free behind-the-scenes and interactive tour through the Burke Museum, followed by morning tea. Bring along your stories as memory sharing from participants will be welcomed and encouraged.

6 week course commencing Thursday 10th October 6pm – 7:30pm. Join local poet and author Frank Prem for an exploration of language as poetry. Over 6 sessions we will look at the musical aspects of our spoken language. We will write from images and the elements that we encounter everyday. First person? Third person? Duet? Let’s talk about that. Let’s write it.

12 week course commencing Monday 14th October 6pm – 7:30pm. Learn Italian in Beechworth. From meeting people to ordering gelato, asking directions and tucking into that spaghetti bolognese. This course offers you the opportunity to learn Italian to travel, help communicate in your workplace or to use with family and friends. Completing this beginner course will give you a good base and confidence in the language. (Excludes 23 & 30 December 2019)

This seminar touches on the why and how of whole food plant-based nutrition and includes evidence-based principles for optimal health. It provides a good overview for those new to a plant-based diet or to those already plant-based who are trying to optimise their health through diet. Jenny and Malcolm are both qualified nutritionists (Deakin Uni) and have completed the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate from eCornell. Malcolm is a practising GP and Board Certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner. Jenny is also a qualified wellness coach.

What you need to know. Licensees and staff are subject to mandatory RSA requirements and have one month from the date they first sell, offer for sale or serve liquor on the licensed premises to complete an RSA program. The RSA program covers a range of topics including: problems associated with excessive consumption alcohol and the law the question of who is responsible for RSA facts about alcohol improving the atmosphere of your premises handling difficult customers.

Wednesday 27th November 9am – 4:30pm SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety This Nationally Accredited course is appropriate for all food handlers within the hospitality and retail industries, and can be any person who either directly or indirectly handles food such as kitchen staff, bar and food and beverage attendants, customer service attendants and front of house personnel. It is also appropriate for anyone handling food at a public venue. It provides food handlers with the skills and knowledge required to keep food safe in the workplace and includes hands on food preparation in a simulated commercial kitchen environment. What you need to know This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses. It requires the ability to follow predetermined organisational procedures and to identify and control food hazards. This unit is part of SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality and a statement of attainment will be issued by The Centre. Fee includes course materials.

In this workshop you’ll be shown skills to turn what is in your garden into gifts which your family and friends will love not only because they were hand made but because some will taste delicious. Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will be issued the Statement of Attainment HLTAID003-PFA This is an 8 hr workshop with 5 hrs in house and up to 3 hrs online pre-course. The pre-course MUST be completed, signed and printed before attending the in-house course.
